Skúli Mogensen co-founded OZ. Under his President and CEO leadership of the company became the leading provider of consumer mobile IM & email solutions in North America & Europe with over 25 deployments across 16 operators. During this time the OZ IM & email client software was shipped on over 90M devices, and the organization grew from 25 employees in 2003 to 270 today, with offices in Montreal, London, Seattle, North Carolina & Mumbai. Most recently Skúli led OZ's acquisition of Thumbspeed, further adding to OZ's leadership in the Mobile Messaging space.
In June 2007 Skúli became Chairman of the Board. In this capacity he will continue to actively work on finding new growth avenues for OZ via its existing and new strategic partners and customers, as well as review additional M&A opportunities and new markets to continue to expand OZ's growth.
A seasoned executive with over 18 years of broad business experience in the technology, telecom and VC industries, Skúli has established close relationships with leading operators, OEMs and OZ's portal partners. Skúli is an active speaker on both sides of the Atlantic and he has been recognized as one of Europe's top Entrepreneurs based on his work at OZ and through his involvement in the start-up of several companies in the telecom field, including Og Vodafone in Iceland and Arctic Ventures.
Managing Partner, Acta Wireless
Alan has a wealth of experience in the wireless industry. He has more than 20 years of international business practice, starting in the oil exploration industry and has devoted the last 16 years to the high tech sector. Alan is currently the Managing Partner of Acta Wireless.
Previously, Alan was a senior partner at GSM Capital LP and Argo II, where he managed the combined funds of $460 million, and led eight investments; including Saraide. Alan earned an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France and holds of Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Offshore Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Former CTO of Cingular
W.E. (Bill) Clift has a proven track record and extensive experience in the wireless industry. Most recently he served as CTO for Cingular where he directed strategic network planning initiatives, oversaw Cingular's involvement in standards bodies, and coordinated the technical development of new products and services. Prior to Cingular, Mr. Clift held several engineering and senior management positions during a distinguished career at Bell South Mobility.
Former President and CEO of Microcell Telecommunications
Mr. Tremblay has more than two decades of telecommunications management experience and a proven track record in successfully developing innovative companies. He has served as President and CEO of Microcell Telecommunications since 1995, where he led the firm from its conception through its different growth phases. In addition to his role at Microcell, Mr. Tremblay sits on the Board of Directors of the Communications Research Centre (a research arm of the federal government's Department of Industry), as well as the boards of other private and public corporations. Prior to Microcell, Mr. Tremblay was an advisor to Charles Sirois, Chairman and CEO of Telesystem Ltd.; and he also held various executive positions within the Telesystem organization.
Managing Director - VantagePoint Venture Partners
Mr. Ver Ploeg has broad experience as an entrepreneur, senior executive and research engineer. As a co-founder of two venture-backed companies, he successfully raised five rounds of financing and subsequently sold them for a total of nearly $200 million.
Prior to VantagePoint Venture Partners, Mr. Ver Ploeg was a co-founder of Angara e-Commerce Services, where he served as Chairman, VP of product management and CEO. Upon co-founding Angara in 1996, he grew the company from two to 35 employees and successfully led Angara through a wholesale change in its business model. He was also instrumental in securing the Company's first five clients. Prior to Angara, Mr. Ver Ploeg co-founded Focalink/AdKnowledge, the first online advertising firm and Internet-hosted application pioneer. He began his career at Hewlett Packard, where as an electrical engineer he coordinated semiconductor production support and overhauled existing unit processes.
Mr. Ver Ploeg holds a BS in Electrical Engineering, with Highest Honors, from Case Western Reserve University; a PhD and MS in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis in Semiconductor Device Physics, from Stanford University's School of Engineering and an MBA from Stanford University.
Vice President, Corporate Development and Partnering
As Executive Vice President of Marketing, Hilmar drives OZ's various corporate and product Marketing activities; additionally he is a member of the Company's Board of Directors. Hilmar has played multiple roles within OZ since joining the company in 1999, and he has been instrumental in driving the Company's growth by working closely with OZ's strategic customers and partners. Prior to joining OZ, Hilmar founded Idea, a company focusing on multimedia communications, and held senior Marketing and Product Management positions at the Bank of Iceland.
Mr. Gunnarsson holds a Business degree from the University of Iceland.
President & CEO
As President and CEO, Jim leads OZ in the next phase of its growth, drives the daily operations of the organization; and is strategically involved with OZ's customers and partners. A seasoned wireless data networks executive, Jim brings over two decades of wireless product, network development and operations expertise to OZ. Jim began his career with Motorola where he developed software and deployed systems for some of the largest private wireless dispatch systems in Scandinavia and Europe. During his 10 year tenure at AT&T Wireless Services, and then Cingular, Jim led the AWS GPRS, UMTS, MMS and MMS cross carrier launch efforts. Additionally, Jim spearheaded the product and technology teams for the "American Idol" mobile voting program including the integration of the AWS and Cingular messaging networks.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Elmhurst College in Illinois. |
