OZ's J2ME Mobile IM Client selected by Sony Ericsson, included on T637 mobile phone being displayed at CTIA in Atlanta

Atlanta, GA - March 22, 2004 - OZ Communications, the leading enabler of standards-based mobile Instant Messaging and Presence Services, announced today that Sony Ericsson has selected OZ's Mobile IM client to support the mass-market launch of mobile IM services in North America and beyond.

The OZ J2ME Mobile IM client will be offered as a pre-loaded client application on select Sony Ericsson models such as the T637, which is being demonstrated at CTIA in both the Sony Ericsson and OZ booth (booths 4647 and 4346 in Hall B5, respectively).

Instant Messaging is one of the most popular means of communication today with hundreds of millions of desktop IM users worldwide and over 4 billion IM messages sent each day. Mobile operators are now capitalizing on the Instant Messaging craze by giving subscribers access to existing IM services on mobile phones with embedded IM client interfaces, thereby increasing mobile messaging traffic. The OZ J2ME Mobile IM Client is based on the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) specifications for Instant Messaging and Presence Services (IMPS), formerly known as Wireless Village.

The OZ J2ME Mobile IM Client provides device providers and mobile operators with a proven, standards-based client application that is highly customizable to meet specific customer needs and can include multiple sets of branding towards existing IM services. This enables mobile operators to offer a mobile IM experience that looks familiar to users' existing desktop IM services and allows end-users to make the choice of which IM service they log into. The OZ client does this within a small memory footprint while providing the best user experience possible, including a persistent always on feel. The OZ J2ME Mobile IM Client is the best solution to meet the dynamic needs of mobile operators for mobile IM clients today.

"Sony Ericsson is an innovator and we are happy to have collaborated with them to deliver the best IM user experience possible on a mass market mobile phone today," said Skuli Mogensen, CEO of OZ. "The OZ J2ME Mobile IM Client is a unique product that addresses all the key challenges that device vendors face when deploying mobile applications. It is a result of OZ's work on mobile IM standardization and our unique understanding of mobile IM issues based on OZ's commercial deployments. In fact, OZ is the first company to offer end-to-end solutions to officially connect mobile handsets to existing IM services using standards-based technology such as our J2ME client and Mobile IM Gateway infrastructure."

The first Sony Ericsson phone to include the OZ mobile IM client is the T637, which will soon be available in North America. The Sony Ericsson T637 is an attractive and versatile mobile phone that can also seamlessly extend the users' desktop IM experience to their mobile phone.
